Based off of our popular Disk series and the success of our Disk 2 model, the D3 takes it to the next level. It is more high performance but loses no fun. We added more entry and tail rocker to the Disk 2 while slightly pulling in the nose and tail. The bottom contour is a deep double barrel concave feeding off the tail. This model works well as a quad or thruster so it is equipped with a 5 fin set up. The D3 model is the perfect board to cheat on while still being able to surf progressively in waves from knee to head high. The perfect everyday board when surfing below average waves is the norm.
With its original outline and unique look, the Zeppelin is our funnest model to date. Overall this board has the lowest rocker and widest nose in our lineup, which gives it a user-friendly feel. The Zeppelin paddles extremely well and turns on a dime with its deep double concave and diamond tail. If your looking for something to keep you in the lineup on small days and compete with all the over aggressive long boarders this board is your remedy. Works well in anything from 1 to 6 foot slower surf. When ordering the Zeppelin we recommend going 4" to 6" shorter than your normal board.
To celebrate International Surfing Day 2016 & the summer solstice Chemistry Surfboards and People Under The Stairs have teamed up to create a limited surfboard conceived over a series of beach, beer and beat sessions. The Acid Raindrop is a unique surfboard designed by Thes One of People Under The Stairs and shaped by Jason Bennett of Chemistry; each model with custom, hand painted resin art by Thes and a wood stringer reinforced with an ACTUAL STRIP of the Acid Raindrops master tape from 2002 locking the ORIGINAL AUDIO MASTER UNDER THE FIBERGLASS IN PERPETUITY. The Acid Raindrop is a great Summer time grovel board. It's overall low rocker makes it a great paddler, while it's wide double bump diamond tail allows this board to plain over gutless, slow sections. This board is a great addition to anyone looking for a small wave groveler.
The Beaker Comp was spawned from the demand to make our Beaker model more high performance. We took our Beaker model and reduced the overall volume in the nose and tail which has allowed this model to work really well in the pocket and react quicker through turns. The rocker is still relatively low to help provide that vital speed needed to excel in smaller waves. We also added very hard wings compared to the subtle double bumps of the Beaker. The wings have proven to help the Beaker Comp's maneuverability in various wave types. This model is a favorite of our team riders giving them the ability to "cheat" in smaller waves without it looking like they are riding fish style boards.
Hands down the most successful model in our board line up. The Beaker model's versatility in 90% of the waves we face everyday has made it an ideal choice for someone trying to get the most use out of one board in their quiver. It is categorized in our small wave line but still performs like a legitimate high performance board. This model generates speed easily while still maintaining control in the pocket. This board has relatively low rocker in the nose and tail and fuller rails. The tail is a very subtle double bump squash. This board is ridden 2"-3" shorter and 3/4"- 1" wider than your standard shortboard. The bottom contour that has worked best for this model is a slight single concave feeding into a slight double concave.
For 2016, we wanted to offer our customers an alternative fish that has high performance characteristics to add to their quiver. The Robotwo is your go to fish when you are surfing below average waves, or waves that call for something other than your high performance shortboard. This fish has a single concave to deep double barrel concave all the way through the semi deep swallow tail. The tail also has a unique outline from 18” back which pulls the tail in, and creates a more aesthetically pleasing tail compared to your standard retro fish. Completed with a five fin set up, choose to ride your Robotwo as either a thruster, quad, or twin fin.
The Roboto is the ultimate mushy, small wave board. It has a deep double barrel concave running off the tail. This generates lots of speed and drive despite a lack of wave power. Also contributing to its ability to gain speed is that the midpoint is further back which straightens the outline through the tail. We took the speed and glide of a retro fish and made it more high performance and maneuverable. It is equipped with a wide deep swallow tail and a thruster fin set-up.
By far the easiest paddler in the Chemistry board line. Extra width in the nose through the midpoint allows the Nucleus to be one of the easiest boards to get into waves and maintain speed down the line. But don't let it's full, round nose confuse the fact that this model has great maneuverability. It's high performance tail is a single fluted winged swallow which holds into the wave extremely well during rail to rail transitions. This board is great for the experienced surfer trying to "cheat" in smaller waves, or the beginner who can order it larger.
The Remix is the Alchemist taken to the next level. We took the proven Alchemist design and gave it a high performance face lift. By narrowing the nose and giving it a short board rocker it helps the board perform better vertically in the pocket. The Remix will also maintain speed like the Alchemist because of the extra width from the midpoint back. When ordering the Remix you can stay relatively close to your standard short board dimensions - 1"- 2" shorter and 1/2" - 3/4" wider. Check out Jason Bennett's test footage of this model.
Jason Bennett and Cheyne Magnusson worked very closely to develop this small wave, high performance board. It has been a staple in our line since 2008 and continues to be one of our best sellers. The Boombastik's claim to fame is its ability to create its own speed and maneuver well in the pocket without losing control or sliding out. This model has a wider nose, flatter entry rocker, and boxy rails. "It's super responsive, easy to control, and feels like an extension of your feet," says Jason. It is equipped with a five fin set-up so it can be ridden as a quad or a thruster. When ordering the Boombastik you can stay relatively close to your standard shortboard dimensions, 1" -2" shorter and 1/2" -3/4" wider. Equally loved as a quad or thruster and utilized as an everyday board worldwide. Designed by Jason Bennett
The Alchemist has been a top selling small wave board since its addition to the product line. This performance fish is ridden 2"-3" shorter and 3/4"-1" wider than your conventional shortboard. There is extra area in the nose to help you paddle in the smaller stuff as well as get you through those mushy sections. Available in either a single or double wing swallow, which decreases the width in the tail, and provides a pivot point for top to bottom surfing. The Alchemist is the perfect balance between a small wave fish and a high performance shortboard.
Extensive R&D went down in the creation of this model with our team riders to create a high performance shortboard that excels in just about every type of wave. The blind “taste test” went on for almost a year while we compiled feedback critical in the design of this model. The Honey Dip has a relaxed entry rocker with a single concave feeding into a deep vee off the tail. We widened the tail block ½” more than our standard shortboard models which helped create the straighter outline in the back half of the board for speed unlike any other shortboard we have designed. The tail also boasts an extreme hip creating a “sweet spot” for increased maneuverability without the loss of speed. Lastly, the fin cluster is pushed back because of the tail width and hip, enabling maximum control without the drifty feel usually associated with wider tail blocks and hips.
Designed with a mellow entry rocker for maximum planing speed that feeds into a very extended tail rocker. With 3/8" more tail rocker than any of our other high performance models, this board excels in the pocket and is lighting fast rail to rail. Through our extensive R&D on this model we found it works best in 4ft + waves that have some pocket. With a flatter deck and boxier rails you will be able to go 1/8" to 1/4" thinner than your normal thickness. This will allow you to be closer to the water and gain more control of your board without losing paddling power. Equipped with a swallow tail, you will get the full amount of rail line in your desired length while it also gives the board that extra bite that takes its performance to the next level.
For the Quantum Theory we wanted to step away from the traditional bottom contours of current high performance shortboards. The bottom is a very slight single concave which then feeds into a pronounced vee through the tail. Along with the relatively soft forgiving rails, the vee makes this model one our most maneuverable to date. Gaining speed isn't an issue as it is fast down the line because of the flatter bottom and smooth rocker flow. Unlike deep concaved boards of today, the Quantum does not have that occasional "sticky" feeling while maneuvering in and out of turns. This model is equipped with a modern high performance outline, a standard nose width, and a slightly wider tail broken up by very subtle double bumps. This model works well in waves with a pocket that are moderate in size. It also has the tendency to want to "hug" the face.
The Liquid Sword is based off our most popular high performance model the Lights Out. We took the Lights Out model's overall concept and modified it to perfection. First we relaxed the rocker of the entire board, by doing this we have found that the board gains speed easily while performing better in everyday surf. We also narrowed the nose width by 1/4" compared to the Lights Out model. We recommend this model for waist high to overhead surf. With these minor adjustments and positive feedback from professionals throughout the year, we are proud to release this blade for the public to enjoy.
The Benzene model is our most high performance board in our line. It is equipped with a completely new rocker designed through a year of R&D with our team riders and visiting pros. The nose rocker is a smooth, subtle entry for faster paddling and all around board speed while the tail rocker has a bit more lift than our other HP models and provides an amazing amount of pivot off the bottom. Teamed with the updated rocker, the outline of this model is curvier from midpoint to tail allowing the board to have a tighter turning radius and more control (especially in the pocket). A favorite of the smaller, more skilled surfer.
The little person's all around performance shortboard. The Young Buck$ is designed for all the youngsters who want their own equipment. This board has some of the same characteristics as our Liquid Sword model, with a moderate nose rocker and a lower rail for sensitivity. It generates speed easy and maintains extreme maneuverability. This model was one of our best sellers in '07 because of the absence of good a grom model in the market.
The Cheyne Magnusson model was designed for the progressive surfer. Cheyne is a very fast surfer who loves to do various types of airs. With this in mind we've created a board with a low entry rocker for speed. For easier planing, the board is a little wider in the nose and has a fuller squash tail. Jason and Cheyne step back in the shaping room every year and redesign this model. This board is equipped with a bump squash to give it a looser, more responsive feel and carbon fiber tail patches to prevent tail damage and provide a unique flex pattern. Designed by Jason Bennett.
Brought into the product line by popular demand, the Flashpoint has been a favorite of our customers and team riders who have been ordering it for years. By far the most user friendly board model in our high performance line that excels in just about any type of surf from ankle high to a few feet overhead. This board has more width in the nose and tail which helps it plane easier and maintain speed. It also has a relaxed rocker making it a great paddler. A perfect high performance board to compliment anyone's quiver. This model usually becomes the board people ride on a daily basis. Order this model 2" shorter and 1/2" - 1" wider than your standard shortboard to excel in smaller waves. Order it your standard shortboard dimensions and feel the benefits of a wider nose and tail, with a lower rocker.
The new R2 model has been ridden and tested by our entire team throughtout the year. From Blacks beach to the racetrack at Uluwatu, this board has been put through its paces. The R2 has a gradual nose and tail rocker as well as a slight single concave through out the board. With this combination we found the board to be fast in slower surf yet holds in bigger conditions. The board has a thicker nose foil which assists in catching waves. The R2 has been proven to work consistently in all conditions whether you’re surfing a 2 foot beach break or an 8 foot reef.
With the continued success of the Boombastik model we decided to build on it with the Boombastik II. With the Boom II we went in a more high performance direction by narrowing the nose and tail, and slightly increasing the rocker. We kept a lot of curve in the tail to maintain tail width for speed, whereas the tail block is brought into a tight thumb for hold. We kept the nose rocker pretty mellow so its more conducive with the type of waves we deal with everyday but still enough to handle the slightly bigger stuff. We have spent the last 6 months fine tuning this model and have decided it's now worthy of offering it to the public. It's a thruster and the bottom contour is a straight single concave.
Wide J 6
For the Wide J 6 we took our Wide 6 model and added a double wing squash to the tail. With the double wing we were able to keep the straight outline of the board and still pull in the last 12" of the tail. The combination of these two attributes have worked really well together. The straight outline gives the board a tremendous amount of speed and the pulled in tail helps control that speed. We kept the overall rocker relatively close to the Wide 6 and left its signature deep 6 channels off the tail. We recommend you order this model 3"- 4" shorter than your normal board.
Wide J 6
The Disk 2 is based off the original Disk with high performance and retro additions. We took the successful Disk outline and narrowed the nose to enhance its maneuverability and added a beak to the nose for a little retro flair. With a flat deck and down rails this model paddles into the small stuff is easy. The slight single to double concave bottom helps this model accelerate and maneuver rail to rail with ease. This model comes equipped with a five-fin setup so it can be ridden as a quad or a thruster.
The Chem Zenagain was spawned by the desire to take our Chem Zen model and give it a more shortboard feel outside of the tube. We left all the forward volume our original Chem Zen had in this model. With the Chem Zenagain we removed the retro beak, added more nose and tail rocker while widening the tail block. This allows the board to fit in the curve of the wave easier and keeps the tail loose. You can choose the Chem Zenagain with or without 4 channels. The 4 channels give the board a bit more bite on the wave, but not too much where you won’t be able to turn it. The Chem Zenagain is a modern version of a proven design that has been a staple in our line up since 2010.
With the absence of a retro style board in our current line, we decided to jump back into the laboratory and create something completely different. The Experimental is a board that will put a smile on your face in and out of the water with it's unique outline and cosmic characteristics. The Experimental has a flatter rocker and straight outline which makes the board create speed on it's own. The round nose allows the model to plane and paddle with ease. We also added a slight concave feeding into vee, with shallow channels that fall off the moon angle in the tail. The Experimental will help keep you in the water on those slow flatter days. We recommend a five fin setup for diversity and an open mind for fun.
The Solution model has grown to be the most diverse model in our lineup. We have no other model that can work for the complete beginner (in larger sizes) and provide the experienced surfer with a surfing experience like no other. This model has a deep concaved deck that not only makes paddling more effective and comfortable, but makes the surfer's feet closer to the water providing a feeling of more control and maneuverability. The bottom contour is a slight single concave into a deep double concave running off the tail. For the beginner order this model obviously bigger and for the more experienced, high performance surfer, 3" - 4" shorter and 1" - 2" wider. Designed by Jason Bennett.
The Chem Zen is a perfect mix between old and new design that can be ridden in a variety of waves. Developed with team rider Mike Gleason, this board is built for speed and control in the pocket of hollow waves. The board's wide point is moved forward and its has a full foil through the midpoint to the nose. This helps the board paddle easy as well as enhances its planing ability in flat sections and in the pocket. It also has a narrow round pin tail that increases its maneuverability and keeps the board locked in the pocket when the waves are hollow. Works well as a thruster or quad so the 5 fin set up is the best choice. Recently Mike has been really happy with the Chem Zen as a quad and with a 6 channel bottom.
The Wide 6 is one of our newest small wave specialty models. With down the line speed unparalleled to any of our other models, the Wide 6 makes things interesting again. Its six-channel bottom is the first time we have offered a channel bottom on any of our models. The Wide 6 has a straighter outline, relaxed rocker, and a wider nose and tail, all of which help it excel in gutless conditions. Despite the preconceived notion that channel bottoms only work well in glassy perfect conditions, the Wide 6 has proved that channel bottoms can perform well in just about anything. The channels also provide bite to the otherwise "slippery" feeling of a wide tailed board. We have spent a few months developing this model and it is best up to 4” shorter than your standard shortboard and ½” to 1” wider.
With all the recent hype on the modern, high performance single fin, we decided to take it to the “next level” of high performance with our version of the Twin Fin. The decision to not go as far back in time as the single fin stems from the desire of speed along with wanting the ability to turn. Jason Bennett took an old curvy 80′s template from his rack that is a neat little single wing thumb tail mixed with a slightly pulled in nose. With the absence of a center fin, Twin Fins tend to be really fast but lack pivot off the bottom and top that a center fin provides. With that in mind, Jason added a ton of vee between the fins to simulate the feeling of a small center fin. The thumb tail was added mainly for hold as Twin Fins have a tendency to be a little loose also. The rail line and foil are both modern as well, giving the rider as familiar of a feel as possible.
Since its conception in 2004, the Disk has undergone several changes to become a more functional everyday board. It can accommodate the surfer who has everything in their quiver. Works well in knee to chest high waves, and draws different lines than the common retro-style board. It has a five fin set-up so it can be ridden as a thruster, quad, twin fin, or a single fin.
The Compression offers you the ability to ride a shorter more maneuverable board in bigger waves. With this model we added width in the nose and more forward volume to make up for the shorter length. We recommend going anywhere from 1 to 3 feet shorter than your typical gun while adding 1/2″ to the width and 1/2″ to the thickness. With the combination of a fuller nose, thicker volume flow, and a smooth entry rocker, this model will get you into almost anything the ocean has to offer. By going shorter, the Compression allows the surfer to maneuver their board unlike the big rhino chasers of the past, which only allowed surfers to make a drop. We also recommend going with a four fin setup to offer the fastest possible fin setup. This will help in the tube, out run big sections, and maneuver the bigger board well.
