We’ve been wanting to showcase our custom surfboard development and creative process for sometime now. To really give our readership a good idea of the effort that goes into each and everyone custom surfboard, we went to the drawing board. After a few burritos and a few cold cervezas we had a good idea of what we wanted to do. This 3 part mini-series is the result of creative efforts. Part 1 would follow Jason Bennett into the shaping room to watch him hone his craft. Part 2 would explore the detail our Collective artists go to while creating their unique surfboard art. Part 3 hands the board off to Cheyne Magnusson to surf right here in Oceanside. We hope you enjoy part 1, R&D.

This footage is from a few weeks ago when a lot of the traveling pros were in town for the Nike 6.0 event at Lower Trestles. Adam Robertson “Mobo” and Nic Muscroft “Rush.com”, from Moborush, stopped by our San Diego factory to pick up some custom Flash Point model surfboards. Its pretty cool that the guys from In Surf News took the time to document these guys testing out some of their fresh custom surfboards before the big event.

Collective artist Coper recently completed a piece of custom surfboard art he calls “Razor Sharp” on a custom shaped 6’1 x 18 3/4 x 2 1/4 squash tail. This surfboard is on sale in Surf Ride Oceanside where we feature a different Chemistry Collective artwork board periodically.
