I guess there is only so much snow a guy can take. With another blizzard, ice storm, whatever, on the way, Mike Gleason decided to go back to Hawaii. This year Volcom has given Mike free range to come and go at the Volcom house on the North Shore and he seems to be taking advantage of the opportunity. His first trip gave him some valuable water time with multiple swells hitting the North Shore. So far he has got some really good waves claiming that he rolled into “the best Pipe wave I have ever ridden”. We are still waiting on the footage on that one so stay tuned.

Earlier this month, local standout grom Taylor Clark went to Hawaii with a couple of fresh Chems in his quiver. It was a Rip Curl trip for their webisode series called “New Breeds in Hawaii”. According to Taylor it was a fun trip that he was able to get good use of all his boards. Check out the videos below, there are some pretty good clips of the youngsters ripping on the North Shore.

Cheyne Magnusson had his first session in over two years today at Backdoor and his first session in Hawaii so far. It wasn’t super crowded and the North swell made the rights super hollow. Cheyne was lucky to be able to pick off the gem of the session.

Not many guys have the ability to hop right off the plane into overhead Backdoor Pipe and get the good ones. Mike Gleason shot us a text psyching that Cheyne got a good one right away. Hopefully this is a good sign and Cheyne will score the rest of his time in the Islands. Stay tuned for more updates from Cheyne in Hawaii.

As some may know, Mr. Mike Gleason has made it back over to the islands. Unfortunately he arrived just in time for a Hawaiian flat spell. Here is a little insight to what he does when it gets flat as well as a pic of the 2 fresh step up boards we sent over to him. Hopefully Hawaii turns around (as it should) and he gets the chance to snag a couple big ones.
