After weeks of anticipation, roster changes, and swell hopes, we came out of the 2010 Willabong victorious. It was pretty gloomy a majority of the day but cleared up around noon. When it cleared up the water turned bright green and we pulled the board shorts out. The waves at Goldenwest St in Huntington beach were not epic but very contestable. In the early rounds we were right behind the high scoring team (Dragon) and ended up taking them down in the final with Todd Prestage posting a high 8.0. Austin Ware was solid the whole event as well. This marks the 3rd year in row we have won the team event and this year the companies came out in full force. We thought the format was 2 company employees, 2 team riders, and 2 Active employees, but according to other teams rosters it apparently wasn’t. Some teams stacked their squads with pro surfers with the hope of taking the crown.
Better luck next year!
We at Chemistry are proud to announce the completion of our showroom and factory. We started in a office and showroom the size of a kids bedroom and now have grown to 1000 sq ft of everything Chemistry. Jason and Will had the amazing help of Chemistry Collective Artists Scott Seiver and Miki Collins to make the vision come alive.
Within the showroom we have a bunch of boards on display, some of which are for sale. We also have a great selection of accessories from Creatures of Leisure, Famous, FCS, Future Fins, and Gorilla Grip to compliment your brand new Chemistry Surfboard. Also in the showroom is our latest in Chemistry Apparel and accessories. On display beside all the great gear is a bunch of art and photographs by Chemistry Collective artists and friends of the brand.
The factory has become a full board building center with the exception of not doing any resin work on site. There is two full size shaping rooms one of which is occupied by Jason Bennett and the other by Encinitas up and coming shaper/surfer Ryan Burch. Besides the two shaping rooms there is a board packing station, showroom extension for board overflow, used board rack, and an area dedicated to Chemistry Collective custom surfboard art.
If you are in our area please take time to stop by and check out the new setup. If not stay tuned for our grand opening party scheduled for early August (we will post the fine details soon). Should be a great time!
We are located at:

Adam Robertson has done it again by winning the trials at the Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach. This time he did it while riding his 5′10 x 19 x 2 3/8 Flash Point model shaped by Jason Bennett.
If anyone knows Bells, it’s Adam Robertson. Hailing from the far west coast of Victoria, Robo is based in nearby Jan Juc, where he’s steadily been working his way up the WQS rankings.
At last year’s Rip Curl Pro, Robo blew away all comers en route to becoming the first Victorian in decades to make the final of the contest. Although his roll through the contest was stopped by a rampaging Joel Parkinson, Robo had the local crowd firmly on his side as the final went down in epic conditions.
Now the lone representative from Victoria, Robertson will face Bede Durbidge (AUS) and Adrian Buchan (AUS) in the opening round of competition. Keep a lookout for Adam when the competition begins as he is looking forward to mixing it up with the best at his local spot again.
Jason Bennett working to improve his surfboard shapes through extensive testing of the Alchemist Remix. This is footage from the last few weeks at Oceanside Pier. It has been convenient that the Pier has had a nice little sandbar for a few weeks and the weather has been prime. Jason tests his custom shaped 5′10 x 19 1/4 x 2 3/8 Remix model.

The Chili Cook Off was put on by Chem and Saltwater Surf Glass to raise money for the Breast Cancer 3 day walk. The cook off was on Thursday November 12th from 11:30 until all the goods were devoured. Three “chefs” stepped up to the challenge with Lisa Mehtlan from SSG emerging victorious. Jammer made an great effort with his awesome cornbread and chili containing habeneros shipped in from Guatemala. Zack from SSG’s mom came up with a killer Turkey and chicken verde style chili…
