“The water in New Jersey may still be in the 40s, but PJ Raia is doffing the gloves so he can get his hands into the cookie jar – and steer his way out of the doggie door.”

PJ Raia has been in California for over a week now before he ventures off to Hawaii. Here is some footage called “One Session in Waist High Newport”. Looks like pretty fun waves but the swell we got didn’t live up to its hype in most places. Hopefully more to come.

There is nothing like news of a swell to get surfers spirits up. Especially when we have been having the best weather outside of the Hawaiian Islands but absolutely no waves (knee high). According to the experts we have a couple significant swells coming our way back to back and with all of the Chemistry team in place it looks to be a good time. Cheyne Magnusson, Blake Jones, Chris Abad, and PJ Raia are all in California waiting for this one to serve up its magic. Mike Gleason is looking to log some more water time on his boards over 7’0 in Hawaii. For once everyone is in place to reap the rewards of the North Pacific swell machine. Stay tuned for the results.

As we sit through another flat spell here on the west coast the east coast enjoyed a traditional fall style swell last week. It gets pretty discouraging when you go and look at the ocean and think if it’s possible to ride a shortboard. Then you go to your office and your email box is filled with pics of guys getting full barrels.

With all the traveling that team rider PJ Raia does he still has the luck and timing to get the good ones while at home. As the photographic evidence shows, New Jersey lit up providing Garden State surfers a few hours of epicness. Granted their swells have a very unfamiliar short window, but I would trade our 5 day mushy swells for a few hours of tubes any day.

The ever busy PJ Raia has continued his run at almost every possible contest available and the last 2 have ended with pretty solid results.
He recently took a win down at the 48th Annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships Presented By Vans And Monster Energy; First Street Jetty, Virginia Beach, VA. Winning the Juniors division in pretty good surf, probably the best the East Coast had to offer that weekend.
