Supergirl Pro This Weekend

Come check out Chemistry team rider Caroline Marks this weekend as she competes in the Supergirl Pro presented by Paul Mitchell. ASA Entertainment announced today that the World Surf League (WSL) 6-Star Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro will take place for the eighth consecutive year at the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside, California, from July 24-26, 2015. The nationally televised event is the largest female surf contest in the world, with 112 of the planet’s top pros expected to compete. Admission to the event is free.

The Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro will serve as the lone women’s WSL qualifying event scheduled in the U.S. in 2015 and plays a critical role for surfers looking to solidify their position on the 2016 WSL Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT).

“With the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro representing the only women’s qualifying event in the U.S., this contest is extremely important in the qualification process for next year’s WCT,” said Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Women’s Tour Manager.

Some of the world-class surfers registered to compete include Alana Blanchard, Lakey Peterson, Malia Manuel, Coco Ho, Courtney Conlogue, Laura Enever, Johanne Defay, Nikki Van Dijk, Tatiana Weston-Webb, and Sage Erickson.

”The girls are all so excited about this event,” said Malia Manuel, 2013 Supergirl Pro champion. “It’s amazing to have a contest like this that focuses entirely on women’s surfing. I’ve been to the event every year, and it gets bigger and better each time.”

In addition to the world’s best surfing talent, the Supergirl Pro features an action-packed Festival Village with live bands, comedy, art, yoga, fitness, dance, female surf films, give-aways, autographs, hair styling, celebrities, skateboarding, food trucks, and other activities.

“We are really pleased about the expansion of the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro in 2015, both in and out of the water,” said Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment, the event’s management company. “Last year it was the largest female event in WSL history and we anticipate smashing that record again in 2015. We are proud to have supported women’s surfing for nine years and to have provided a platform for important causes such as sustainability and breast cancer awareness.”

“Paul Mitchell is thrilled to be involved with such an amazing group of women, and we are proud to have the largest field of talent in women’s surfing competing at our event,” said Julie Solwold, Vice President of Global Sports and Events at Paul Mitchell. “These girls have style, grace, beauty, and athleticism that align perfectly with our brand, and we are excited to help them gain much-deserved exposure for their sport.”

The event will run daily between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from July 24-26.
